Community Involvement/Public Service

Mr. Brian Person is a 1977 graduate of Miami Jackson Senior High School.
While a student at Miami Jackson, he was Offensive Captain, Jr. Varsity Football Team and served as a member of the Civitan Club.

Mr. Person earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Miami-Dade Jr. College and a Bachelor’s
Degree from Barry University with a concentration in Behavioral Science.

He chose Social Work as his profession.

Mr. Person has been involved with the community. He is presently a volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami where he has served since 1996 and honored as Big Brother of the year in 1998. He serves on the Fatherhood Task Force of South Florida and was honored as the Most Valuable Father in 2017. Additionally, he serves the community through the Mahogany Youth Corporation where he is an Executive Board Member. He previously was Vice President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Miami and was Co-Chair of the organization, Not One More Coalition, Against Gun Violence.

Mr. Person has had direct contact with the students at Miami Jackson as an Assistant Softball Coach, Head Coach Girls Jr. Varsity Basketball and conducted a Teen Dating Violence, six-week program through the PAIIRS (Preventing Abuse in Intimate Relationships) Program. He was instrumental in Miami Jackson Senior High School’s participation in the Big Brother Big Sister School-To-Work Program, where students receive workplace/professional mentoring.

Mr. Person was a talk-host personality from 2005-2017 at AM 1490 WMBM, Brother 2 Brother Radio Show.
