The Honorable Miguel de la O is a 1982 graduate of Miami Jackson Senior High School.

While a student at Miami Jackson, he was a member of the Debate Team and the National Honor Society.
He was voted “Most Likely to Succeed.”.

He pursued higher education at Florida State University where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s
Degree in Criminology and Political Science. In college, he continued his interest in “debate” and won
Second Place in the National Debate Tournament. After earning an undergraduate degree, he continued
with graduate studies at Florida State University School of Law. He earned a law degree, with high honors,
in 1989.

During his career in law, Judge de la O has received numerous awards. He was named, “Florida Legal Elite” nine (9) consecutive years by Florida Trend Magazine, 2004-2012, “Florida Super Lawyer” seven (7) consecutive years by Law & Politics magazine, 2007-2013, “Best of the Bar” by the South Florida Business Journal, 2005. He was also honored with Union Planters’ Young Hispanic Leadership Award, in 2004 and recognized as “Boss of the Year” by Miami-Dade Legal Support Association, in 2004.

Judge de la O was elected Circuit Judge in 2013. He serves as Administrative Judge for Circuit Appeals
